Back in Lincoln

Back in Lincoln for a week to list the house. 
While I dust and set up inside, Terry is outside settling in. He can never get done and retreat to the inside before the old guys have to introduce themselves and shake hands with the new neighbor. Makes me laugh every time.

Pucker Brush Days in Forest City, IA

Last night the entertainment was Tina & Lena. Retired school teachers. Lena doesn't have any class and Tina doesn't have any principals. They like the Midwest. All the towns are named after their water towers!

There are 1,000 Winnebagos here and they say 80% of them have dogs. Many have two dogs and we've seen as many as five. This morning we got up early to motorcycle and find a place for breakfast. I think we saw all 800 pet owners walking their 2,000 dogs as we meandered thru the campgrounds.

Today was the Pucker Brush Parade. Six blocks of emergency vehicles (wow!) then the politicians and then the kids, bands, floats and all the good stuff. The town was packed with locals and most of the Rally folks.

LOTS of candy was tossed by just about everyone in the parade. The old man in front of me started giving me the candy thrown in front of him because he had so much. But when the 3M float came in sight ALL the old folks got up out of their chairs. I didn't know what was going on. Then I started seeing the yellow pkgs in the air. OMG people were scampering! They love sponges! LOL

After the parade we went to the Methodist Church for their pie social. I had Blueberry, TL had Lemon Meringue, and then we shared a Pecan Pie. Mmmmm and just $2.50 a slice. A couple from Anaheim, CA sat with us (Peach & Blueberry) and we learned lots more about RV living and traveling. 

This afternoon I attended the Convection Microwave Cooking Class. I don't have an oven so there was lots for me to learn about the Convection!

Tonight was the grand finale entertainment with Jefferson Starship.

When we were young and clapped our hands above our heads... we didn't have arm flappin jiggle! I choked on my beer! LOL

Motorhome Assembly Tour

At 7:30 this morning we got to go on the two hour Motorhome Assembly Tour. During WIT Rally small groups get to go on the factory floor with all the workers and see up close and personal. Cool!
During the day we attend hourly seminars back on the Rally Grounds. During the Electrical Safety Seminar I was kinda bored but look what I found!

Driving Class and the Official Opening of Rally

Yesterday was my Women on Wheels driving class and the instructor said I did excellent. I learned a few things and even more in the seminar today. Today was the official opening of Rally. This evening the entertainment was the "Parade of States." I had my turvis tumbler full of margarita and sat back and watched it all happen. This is a new life for us! LOL

WIT Grand Rally

Lots to learn here at Winnebago in Forest City, IA.  

Evenings are for entertainment and Terry was darn close on Blackout Bingo last night. 

We have electric and water hookup but we have to buy a $25 ticket to the Honey Wagon to empty our tanks. This morning our grey was full and I was waiting to take shower!

We fill our free time touring around on the motorcycle or in our car. We were on the motorcycle today and it was sunny and hot. This picture is of the tower in Pilot Knob State Park. It's on the second highest point in Iowa and the tower was built in 1934 by the Civilian Conservation Corps.

Tonight I had to put on my gloves and a second jacket after dinner. This chilly weather is better than sweat and mosquitoes, that's for sure! Our fireplace is on tonight! 

There are different groups here that park/camp together or gather a certain times. The Law Enforcement group plays Reveille at 7a and it makes me laugh. Taps at sunset makes me reflect on the day and on life.

WIT Rally

Drove to Forest City, IA today to the Winnebago Itasca Grand National Rally. Rally doesn't officially start until Wednesday next week but we came early to take it all in and learn all that we can. When I registered for the WIT Rally all of the extra long big rig lots were gone. We are 43' plus another 4 feet for the hydralift so they put us in the handicap section, at the side of the section, and end to end with a short rig.

And everyone in the handicap section gets assigned parking! Ours is just steps away from our rig. Many people have a quarter mile hike to their car!

30 days and we're tired of house work

We have been living in our RV for 30 days. We've been working at the house 28 of those days plus two weeks prior. We are TIRED. We have taken car load after car load after car load to the Salvation Army, Goodwill, and Peoples City Mission. There have been many tears as we boxed or bagged our belongings and let them go. It's been an emotional time for all of us. Today we finished our prep work for the contractor to come in and do some repairs and paint quite a few walls. We're headed out in the morning to travel 300 miles to Forest City, IA and the Winnebago-Itasca Grand National Rally. We'll sit in a field under full sun along with about 1000 other RVs for ten days. We are ready for time away! We are soooo ready for our new life but we will need to return after Rally to spend another week at the house and to get it listed with a realtor. For now... fun at last
